Our History
The Martin Family has been in the auction business since the 1930s. Martin Auctioneers, Inc. was formed in 1969 and has 50 years of auction experience in selling Antiques, Real Estate, Horse Drawn Vehicles, Farm Equipment, Livestock, Liquidations, Personal Property. Throughout the years they have conducted local and real estate auctions and traveled all over the USA and Canada to disperse Private Collections, Museum Dispersal as well as auctions regularly to southern California for over 25 years. The auction business has offered Martin Auctioneers the opportunity to serve the local community as well as the equestrian and horse-drawn vehicle industry.

This unique business allowed Paul Z. Martin, Jr. and his wife, Karen to work with carriage Kuhnle Manufactures as North and South American Representatives, import and market “The Carriage World Champions Choose” for over 25 years while both competing in the Single, Pair and Four In Hand Divisions in combined and pleasure driving across the USA.

Paul Z. Martin, Jr., President
Paul, President of Martin Auctioneers, Inc., a third-generation auctioneer, started gaining experience at an early age working at his grandfather’s antique, equipment, and horse and pony auctions. Paul attended Reppert School of Auctioneering after serving 2 years in the Army. Martin Auctioneers was formed in 1969 by Paul’s father and his three brothers. Paul became President of the company in 1995 and continues to hold bi-annual horse-drawn carriage auctions, special collections of antiques, and real estate.
Paul worked Premier Thoroughbred and Standardbred as an Independent
Auctioneer throughout North America at Keeneland, Ocala Breeders Sales, Tattersalls, Canadian Standardbred as well as international horse sales in Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Puerto Rico. He has worked in the Automobile Auction Pennsylvania, New Jersey and including Manheim Auto Auction, and presently America’s Auto Auction profession, Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
As an accomplished whip, Paul enjoys competing in Combined Driving, Coaching and Pleasure Driving and Carriage Racing Exhibiting and being a co-founder of North American Carriage & Scurry Racing LLC. Paul was a USEF Member of the 2005 Combined Driving Team. Paul is a Lifetime Member of the American Driving Society, Lifetime Member Carriage Association of America, The Road Club, many Carriage Driving Associations clubs supporting the sport and industry of horse-drawn, history, and preservation. He attends many equestrian events here and abroad to maintain his expertise in the unique field of horse-drawn coach, carriage, sleigh, antique real estate & select collections. Paul enjoys collecting horse-drawn carriage coaching appointments & early classic automobiles. He is devoted to his family and enjoys spending time with them, Karen and their dogs, friends, and ponies.
Karen Jordan Martin, (Office Management)
Karen Jordan Martin is the co-owner of Martin Auctioneers, Inc. Being an integral part of the company contributing to the business by representing Martin Auctioneers in the equestrian industry from 1995 to the present and represented Kuhnle Carriage Manufacturing of Germany for 25 years. Prior to her work with Martin Auctioneers, Inc, Karen attended the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, graduated with a BS in Elementary Education, and taught in the Sandhill Region of North Carolina Before Joining Martin Auctioneers, Inc. in 1995.
Karen is an accomplished rider as well as a whip of single and pair ponies and has competed nationally at major driving shows. Early equestrian pursuits were in the NCHJA region showing Hunters/Equitation out of Full Cry Farm of Southern Pines, NC, winning the EJ Haun Memorial Medal as a Junior Competitor. Carriage driving highlights were retiring the Joyce Ryder ….. Trophy at Devon Horse Show 200- and winning top honors in the single and pair divisions in Combined, Private Driving. She is one of the founders of North American Carriage & Scurry Racing, LLC., exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and Devon Horse Show. Co-owner of the USEF Combined Driving Team Pony Pair. Karen enjoys supporting Paul in the Coaching divisions as the organizations supporting the carriage industry. Prior Board of Director at large and Lifetime Member of The American Driving Society, Member Pennsylvania Equine Council and Carriage Association of America. Karen and Paul enjoy international travel, attending Private Driving and Four-in-Hand Coaching events with their Welsh Cobs, German Sport Ponies & Jack Russells.
